About us

The International Co-operative Programme on Assessment and Monitoring of Air Pollution Effects on Forests (ICP Forests) was established in 1985.

The aim of ICP Forests is to make comprehensive information on the state of forests available to scientists, politicians and the general public.

A total of 40 European countries as well as the USA and Canada are involved in the programme. The participating countries monitor the influence of air pollutants, climate change and other stressors on the condition of and changes to forest ecosystems on more than 6,000 test plots.
