Co-ordination

Germany, represented by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), is the Lead Country of ICP Forests.

The Programme Co-ordinating Centre (PCC) is led by Dr. Kai Schwärzel and hosted by the Thünen Institute of Forest Ecosystems in Eberswalde near Berlin. It is responsible for the co-ordination and further development of ICP Forests, the reporting, public outreach and policy advice as well as the management of the ICP Forests Database and data availability. The PCC also leads updates of the ICP Forests Manual, carries out standard evaluations and engages in complex studies together with researchers from partner organizations throughout Europe.

Since 2017, Dr. Marco Ferretti from the Swiss Federal Research Institute WSL is Chairman of ICP Forests. He represents ICP Forests externally and also plays a central role internally, e.g. by leading the Task Force.
