Mission & Vision

Our mission is to provide long-term, multi-functional monitoring of forests in the UNECE region, and to disseminate scientific knowledge on the effects of air pollution, climate change and other stressors on forest ecosystems.

Our vision is a Europe-wide forest monitoring infrastructure, integrating multiple levels and providing high quality, transparent, robust and openly accessible data on

• the status and trends of forest health, vitality, productivity and biodiversity; 
• the risks that forests face from human activity and natural stressors (separately and in combination);
• the achievements in relevant policy objectives to reduce risks.
